چکیده

In this study, three typical and most extreme precipitation events in the history of North China are analyzed compared terms accumulated synoptical circulation using surface station observations ERA5 dataset. The happened August 1963 (“63.8” event, hereafter), 1975 (“75.8” event), July 2021 (“21.7” respectively, mainly Hebei Henan Provinces China. results show that maximum daily 4-day all exceeded 500 mm 800 mm, with many stations’ ranking Top 1. “63.8” event persisted for longest time, affected largest area, rained 7 days (over 1000 mm). “75.8” was characterized by a concentrated area. All characterize normal northward subtropical high located Northeast At hPa, area from South to Sea dominated uniform pressure field. upper levels, there were troughs divergence anomalies events. low anomalous low-level jets associated water vapor flux anomalies, which at different levels came directions. Stable persistent jet key factors these

Impacts of climate change on extreme precipitation events in arid (Bandar Abbas) and semi-arid (Shahrekord) stations in Iran

The aim of this paper is to project extreme precipitation events in an arid and a semiarid station. In order to project climate change based on general circulation models (GCMs), we have applied LARS-WG[1] downscaling tool. This stochastic weather generator down-scaled the climate of two synoptic stations using HADCM3 model and A2 emission scenario for 2040. We extracted extreme precipitation e...

Assessment of Spatial and Temporal Variability of Extreme Precipitation Indices (North and West of Iran)

The frequency of precipitation extreme event can cause flood or change the drought period. Accurate understanding of these changes is necessary to take action to reduce these effects. In this research, temporal and spatial changes of 14 precipitation indices for eight synoptic stations in the North and West of the country were investigated. For this purpose, after reconstructing the daily preci...

Eta simulations of three extreme precipitation events: Sensitivity to resolution and convective parameterization

A versatile workstation version of the NCEP Eta Model is used to simulate three excessive precipitation episodes in the central United States. These events all resulted in damaging flash flooding and include 16-17 June 1996 in the upper Midwest, 17 July 1996 in western Iowa, and 27 May 1997 in Texas. The episodes reflect a wide range of meteorological situations: (i) a warm core cyclone in June...

Probabilistic forecast of daily areal precipitation focusing on extreme events

A dynamical downscaling scheme is usually used to provide a short range flood forecasting system with highresolved precipitation fields. Unfortunately, a single forecast of this scheme has a high uncertainty concerning intensity and location especially during extreme events. Alternatively, statistical downscaling techniques like the analogue method can be used which can supply a probabilistic f...
